Description

For each board, standard kernels are available. These standard kernels are configured to support as many applications as possible. In addition, customers have the option to request a customized kernel. In this case, the required WCE or Windows IoT components can be specified, registry settings can be predefined, and customer-provided software can be integrated. If these modifications affect the Windows licensing requirements (i.e., if a different Windows license becomes necessary), we will inform you accordingly.
For Windows CE, each customized kernel is maintained by F&S in a dedicated virtual machine. Changes to this virtual machine are only made upon the customer's request.
For Windows IoT, the kernel is maintained through a so-called System Image File, which contains the required customizations and integrated components.
