The Linux BSP (multiplatform-linux-f+s-V2.0) contains the customized Linux Kernel Source Code (v3.3.7), the customized U-Boot Source Code (2012.07) and a customized Buildroot (2012.08), as well as our Cross-Toolchain. The package also holds our standard binaries of the Linux Kernel Images, U-Boot and a UBIFS Root Filesystem. For a first impression, the Root Filesystem based on Buildroot has the following features installed:

Windows Embedded CE 6.0 R3/Compact 7
Windows Embedded CE6.0 R3 or Windows Embedded Compact 7 offers Bootloader, interface drivers and kernel (with e.g. Silverlight, Mediaplayer or IE). Interface drivers for almost every offered interface are ready to use (an access code for this software is shipped with the starter kit). Hard work with PlatformBuilder is unnecessary, since we already did that. Create your software with Visual Studio .NET (not shipped with the starterkit) in C, C++, C# or VB.NET. Use interfaces like I²C in the same way like a RS232 interface, without having to handle the underlying hardware. Configure the display and other settings with the F&S configuration tool. This is software development at its easiest.
Our FailSafe Flash File System F3S is also available in WCE 6.0 and Compact 7.

For solutions with Computer on Module (COM), which need a base board, a Single Board Computer (SBC) in an established form factor offers an alternative. This PicoITX form factor with Cortex-A8-1GHz is perfectly suited for developing small, but high-performance applications. armStone™A8 is a small, powerful and very cost-effective SBC, offered by F&S. Powerful and Cost-EffectiveThe first PicoITX SBC by F&S is based on a Cortex-A8 CPU with 1GHz. armStone™A8 has 512 Mbyte RAM and 128Mbyte NAND Flash, which is sufficient to boot WCE or Linux directly from Flash. A micro SD-Card can be added optionally. |
The board offers interfaces such as USB Host/Device, 2x LAN, RS232, CAN, SPI, I²C, and Audio (IN/OUT). Furthermore, a LVDS interface (max. resolution up to XGA/WXGA), a HDMI/DVI interface up to 1920 x 1080 and a touch panel interface are available, so it is possible to control two displays/ screens independently.
