Microsoft Windows Ce is an operating system platform for a large range of devices in the area of comunication, entertainment and mobile data processing. The Windows CE platform enables in business and in private non-PC areas, devices which communicate with each other to share the use of information with other computers and provide access to the internet. Current communication possibilities, such as e-mail, the World Wide Web or even multi-media applications are hence no longer a problem. Windows CE is a 32-bit operating system with multitasking and muti-threading, which has an open architecture an which supports a wide range of devices. It is compact and provides high performance, even in the case of a configuration with limited RAM. It is also scaleable, sothat it can support a wide range of integrated, mobile and multi-media products. Thanks to this flexibility an application in the area of embedded systems is particularly interesting.
