COM at check card size, the NEW PicoMOD4
PicoMOD4 is the newest member of the PicoMOD family from F&S. This compact, cheap and powerfully COM especially suits for applications in portable units (foot print 80x50 mm) as well as stationary units for industry (-20 +85°C) or medical technology with TFTs up to SVGA. Of course, the new PicoMOD4 board is also pin compatible to all the other PicoMOD boards and a long Life-Time (5 years+) is promised.
The compactness and the low costs are the special feature of the PicoMOD family. At a price of Euro 99,- (from 1000pcs), PicoMOD4 offer high performance and many usefully interfaces.
The new PicoMOD4 uses a Samsung CPU with ARM9-core and is running at 533 MHz. It comes with 64MB Flash and 64MB RAM and even by default features 4 serial interfaces, 2 USB, I2C, SPI, I/O, audio, CAN, Ethernet, SD- and CF-card and a touch-controller. In addition PicoMOD4 supports the flexible display-interfaces typical for F&S. It is able to control all STN-, CSTN- and TFT-displays with 320x240 (QVGA) up to 800x600 (SVGA). It is possible to add an low priced IC to offer LVDS interface also. Supply voltage is 3.3V/300mA. The PicoMOD4 will be connected to a customer specific base-board using a 140-pin connector. Windows CE6.0 (later Linux also) already preinstalled, including drivers for all available interfaces.
For starting development very quickly and easily, there is a Starter-KIT available (PicoMOD4, baseboard, cable, storage medium, documentation and software). Additional the customer only need VS.NET (C++, C#, Basic) and are able to start the design immediately. To support customers, F&S Elektronik offer on the F&S homepage an support forum (English language) with more than 1200 registered customers. F&S also offers further SBCs with XScale-, Power-PC and MIPS32-CPU. Its possible for F&S to design and produce client specific boards or baseboards after arrangement.
