Qseven form factor

QBlissA8 is a RISC board in Qseven form factor. This enables customers, who already use Qseven with ATOM CPU, to switch over to a compatible board with RISC CPU. Over 90% of the interfaces of the Qseven standard (70mm x 70mm) are supported. Therefore QBliss can replace the previous Qseven board in most cases without any change of the hardware.

Why should a customer switch from Qseven with ATOM to Qseven with RISC?

  • Low Power (approx. 1.5W)
  • Short boot times (5 to 8 seconds)
  • Small licence fees for Windows CE 6.0
  • The inexpensive board price of the QBlissA8

This permits applications, especially in the mobile section, where compactness, energy efficiency, cost-efficiency, robustness and reliability are the main attributes. The Cortex A8 CPU used on the QBlissA8 with 667/800 MHz features a high computing power and further functions like

  • 2D, 3D acceleration, 5 window layers
  • MPEG4/H.264 decoding (30fps at 720p)

The QBlissA8 is equipped with 256MB RAM and 1GB flash memory and supports not only interfaces like USB2.0 Host/Device, Ethernet, AC97, I2C, SPI, but also CAN, GPIO, UART and Touch (4-wire). For memory expansions, SDHC and SATA are available. The display can be connected via LVDS (up to XGA resolution) or via HDMI.

More than 10 years accumulated experience with Windows CE (boot loader, kernel, SDK, BSP, device drivers) are incorporated into the QBlissA8 and help F&S customers to find a quick and successful completion of their development under Windows CE. The QBlissA8 is available with a matching WindowsCE 6.0 R3 or matching Linux 2.6.28 (U-Boot, BSP, Buildroot, QT, ...). To develop under WindowsCE 6.0, Microsoft Visual Studio .NET 2005/2008 (C++, C#, VB.NET) is required. A 4-hour workshop and a forum on the F&S homepage with over 1200 registered customers complete the good support offering.
